Enhanced performance and capacity
The Tandberg LTO-4 drive
doubles the capacity over LTO-3 increasing to 1.6 TB compressed from
800 GB, and offers transfer rates up to 240 MB per second. The LTO-4
drives offer full backward compatibility with LTO-3 cartridges and
backward read compatibilities with LTO-2 cartridges, helping to
protect the investment customers have made in LTO technology.
Data encryption** for enhanced
security
Increasing attention is
being paid to the need to protect company data against theft or
accidental loss, particularly data that contain personal or
sensitive information of a company’s customers. The Tandberg LTO-4
FH includes data encryption capabilities within the drive, helping
to avoid the need for host-based encryption of data or the use of
specialized encryption appliances. This will provide customers with
greater ability to protect information if cartridges are lost or
stolen.
High reliability with Adaptive Tape
Threading
The Tandberg Data LTO
drives features Adaptive Tape Threading which helps to protect
against load failures with 8 independent sensor readings, which
provide input to enhanced firmware. By verifying tape speed and tape
spinning wheel, modulating the thread profile to help provide
tension control, using thread algorithm to help detect damaged
cartridges and including a unique design that prevents accidental
pulling of the leader pin, the Tandberg Data LTO drives offer high
reliability, required in medium and large enterprises.
Why standardize on LTO?
LTO Ultrium is the only
industry standard tape drive technology on the market today. The
Ultrium LTO format has quickly become the market leader overtaking
other proprietary technologies such as DLT and AIT. The availability
of 4 generations of LTO tape drives simplifies the decision. It is
the only option available for low cost requirements where capacity
growth potential matches the escalating data growth rates that
businesses are facing today.
